Northlake Hotel application approved

The following media release has been issued by Winton, the developers of Wanaka's Northlake subdivision.

"Queenstown Lakes District Council has granted resource consent for a hotel and related activities, at Northlake Wanaka.

The architecturally designed 113 guest room Hotel will be located in the Village Centre on Northlake Drive, off Outlet Road.

The Hotel has been designed by Studio Pacific Architecture to fuse with the local landscape and complement the surrounding natural and built environment. The three levels will encompass 113 well-appointed guest rooms, along with an inviting restaurant and lounge bar, gym, spa and laundry.

Chris Meehan, Winton CEO, said, “We are delighted to be granted approval for the Hotel at Northlake. The District Plan had already zoned this site for visitor accommodation some years ago, and the design has been refined in response to feedback through the resource consent process. We are now looking forward to progressing to the next stages of design and planning for the project.”

As previously communicated, the tennis court on the site for the Hotel will be replaced by a tennis court in the new 1.2 hectare landscaped recreation reserve nearby. Works are proposed to commence in Spring and along with the tennis court, the recreation space will also include a basketball half court, barbeque area, pump track and green spaces.
